Monday is the first day of Spring, which means that I can officially bid adieu to my winter capsule wardrobe. Lesson that I learned from the months of minimalism? As much as I love wearing black, monochromatic can become monotonous. This time around, I’ve decided to cut myself some slack and mix it up a bit more. For my Spring/Summer capsule wardrobe, I’ve picked a print to incorporate… gingham.
My first foray into styling this playful plaid on the blog was for a Diversity Chic installment. I love the classic vibe of gingham. My penchant for the print most likely dates back to my first #girlcrush: Mary Ann from Gilligan’s Island.

Gingham sparks this feeling of nostalgia and simplicity. It’s the fashion equivalent to a picnic on a beautiful day. (Which may be why it seemed like such a natural choice to pair this peplum top with a handbag that was inspired by a Japanese picnic basket).
I’m working on finalizing my next capsule wardrobe, and can’t wait to share it on the blog. In the meantime, this outfit post can serve as a sneak peek! Are you ready for spring? What trends are you going to be trying this next season?
