Categories Photography, Tech, the fairyblogmother files New Lightroom Preset: Blockbuster Tuesday, February 28, 2017Author Stephanie Drenka2 Comments on New Lightroom Preset: Blockbuster If you’ve followed me on Instagram over the years, you may have noticed that it’s taken awhile to find my style– both in fashion and photography. I’ve spent a lot of time (and money) trying out different presets, emulating various films, and following instructions from other photographers or bloggers, but nothing seemed to fit all of my needs. I needed a preset that would work just as well for travel landscapes as it does for portraits. It was also important that it be compatible with all types of cameras, because I go back and forth between Canon and Fuji quite often (and sometimes like to re-edit photos from my old Canon S100 point and shoot). My inspiration is a mix between vintage Kodachrome and contemporary cinema (think Megan Fox in a Michael Bay movie). Retro, with modern sensibilities. I’d noticed that film emulation presets often tended to be muted or moody. There were are some wonderful ones like Mastin that work beautifully for wedding photos, but didn’t seem to fit for editorial fashion or travel. So I’ve been spending a lot of time trying to nail down my “look” in Lightroom. The result is this Blockbuster preset (and three subtle variations) which I’ve decided to sell on Creative Market. Here are some more before and after examples of the preset in action, taken on a variety of cameras. The presets work best if you set your exposure and white balance correctly in Lightroom first before applying them. I hope that I’ve made them versatile, but I think they really shine with blue skies and water. (Time to start planning your next vacation?) Click here to purchase my Blockbuster Lightroom Preset.
