watching my arrival video always makes me so sad… even though it should be the happiest moment of my life. my entire family was at the airport waiting for me. i loved having this video to see the excitement on all of their faces when my parents walked into the terminal holding me. now it kills me to see so many of my loved ones that i have lost in recent years. grandma betty, uncle tom, aunt cindy, grandma irene, grandpa paul. this particular frame almost knocked the wind out of me today. exactly one year after my dad’s mom passed away, the same year that we lost my mom’s dad— to see them both in the same video still… i want to pause it indefinitely. no… i want to rewind everything. i want another chance at a moment like this, with my whole family in one room, though i know it to be impossible. and i don’t think i will ever feel as surrounded by love as i was then.
