“We take photographs as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone.” (Katie Thurmes)
It’s been over a month since we returned from Venice, but I still can’t stop dreaming about the magical city. Every corner and canal was like something out of a fairytale, so picking a list of 10 favorite locations is nearly impossible. That being said, here are a few of my can’t-miss photo spots for any Venice-visiting Instagram enthusiasts…
1) Piazza San Marco
Wake up early and you can get a magical crowd-less photo in the famous St. Mark’s Square.
2) Libreria Acqua Alta
This quirky bookstore is a must-Instagram spot for any avid reader or book hoarder.
3) Scala Contarini del Bovolo
Climb the spiral staircase of Scala Contarini del Bovolo for views of Venice and its terracotta rooftops.
4) The Inner Canals
Explore the labyrinth of Venice’s canals and bridges. There is a photo opp at every turn!
5) Teatro La Fenice
This beautiful opera house was the site of many historic premieres for bel canto era composers.
6) On a Gondola Ride
An 80 Euro gondola ride may seem pricey, but the Kodak moments are priceless.
7) Burano Island
Burano is a vaporetto ride away from San Marco and filled with the cutest rainbow-colored homes.
8) Bridge of Sighs
The view from the Bridge of Sighs’ windows was the last thing convicts saw before imprisonment.
9) “Support” by Lorenzo Quinn
This powerful sculpture by Lorenzo Quinn highlights the threat of climate change.
10) Rialto Bridge
This landmark bridge across the Grand Canal is considered the heart of Venice.
