A Change of Seasons

A Change of Seasons | Stephanie Drenka

“Aprils have never meant much to me, autumns seem that season of beginning, spring.” ― Truman Capote, Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Times are a-changing, my friends. The dog days of summer are waning and so are my months left as a twentysomething. This last stretch before the year’s end seemed like as good a time as any to take a huge leap of faith. Some Facebook and Instagram followers may have caught my allusion to the aforementioned change– a few even thought I was preparing to announce a pregnancy haha. Alas, I’m happy with the role of dogmother to my two crazy furbabies and have no immediate plans to add to the brood.

The big news is actually…

Tomorrow will be the final day at my current job. After three glorious years of working from home in my pajamas, I’ll be pulling the business casual basics out of storage and driving to an office again! This is the most bittersweet transition I’ve ever made in my life. I started crying when giving my two week’s notice, because I’ve been blessed to work for the kindest and inspiring bosses ever. They’ve become family, and leaving this job feels akin to going off to college and having to say goodbye to my parents.

I’m thrilled to be joining some of my favorite bloggers at rewardStyle as a Strategic Optimization Specialist! Cannot wait to take everything I’ve learned during my tenure at i5 and share it with my fellow fashion bloggers on a massive scale.

With this big lifestyle change, I thought it might be an ideal time to reevaluate my priorities. My work/life balance has been non-existent as of late. As much as I love photography, I basically spend every evening shooting until the sun goes down, and editing until I fall asleep at the computer. It’s unhealthy, and I fear may eventually lead to resentment of what used to bring so much joy.

I’m still booking blogger portrait sessions, but on a much more limited basis. I feel so blessed to have clients/friends who have been not only understanding of the decision, but my biggest supporters in pursuing this new job.

I am almost certain that my fashionable Dallas style bloggers and the gorgeous fall weather/dreamy natural light will eventually lure me out to shoot more than anticipated, but presently, I’m very happy to focus my energy on this dream job and enjoying some extra time without a heavy camera in hand!

Thank you all for your continued support and patience as I navigate this next chapter of my life/career. It’s going to be a beautiful autumn.
