Breakfast at Stephanie’s

Holly Golightly: You know those days when you get the mean reds?
Paul Varjak: The mean reds, you mean like the blues?
Holly Golightly: No. The blues are because you’re getting fat and maybe it’s been raining too long, you’re just sad that’s all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you’re afraid and you don’t know what you’re afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?
Paul Varjak: Sure.
Holly Golightly: Well, when I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany’s. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that’d make me feel like Tiffany’s, then – then I’d buy some furniture and give the cat a name!
A few weeks after my twentisixistential crisis caused me to reevaluate my priorities and life direction, I have some big news.

I’ve recently accepted a new job offer and am going into the last week at my current company. It’s been a bumpy road, paved with insecurity and indecision, but I am finally at peace with my decision. As of March 2nd, I will be saying sayonara to the licensing biz and returning to my true roots in the web development, copywriting and social media realm.

As terrifying as it is to leave the comfort of an industry in which I have invested several years and coworkers who have become some of my closest friends (and even my boyfriend!), I am so excited for new challenges. For example… working from home!

I’ve always worked in an office setting, so the idea of spending the day in my apartment is as frightening as it is appealing. Limited by my one-bedroom apartment, I needed to designate a space to work. After some rearranging of bedroom furniture to accommodate my brother’s borrowed desk, my home office is starting to come together!

More than just space for a desk and miscellaneous office supplies, I needed a place that could be my Tiffany’s. Somewhere quiet, calming and proud. So I took the bookshelf that my grandpa built for me, which had been stuck in a storage closet holding my shoes, and transformed it with a few coats of spray paint (two coats of white primer and Krylon “Blue Ocean Breeze“). Complete with my Audrey Hepburn DVD collection, painting from Hobby Lobby, journal from Barnes & Noble and Tiffany’s box from my beloved…

Voila!!!
