Just spent a whirlwind couple of days in my very favorite city. My family is vacationing in Door County, Wisconsin for the 4th of July holiday, but we flew into Chicago first. I’ve been back to the city a few times since college, but it’s usually for a shower, wedding, (or funeral). I can’t remember the last time I got to experience Chicago as a tourist.
“And each time I roam, Chicago is
Calling me home, Chicago is
Why I just grin like a clown
It’s my kind of town” (Frank Sinatra)
What does one do with less than 48 hours in Chicago? Eat all the pizza. We made sure to enjoy some deep dish pizza from Pizzeria Uno downtown and our favorite thin crust (and Italian Beef) at Dino’s Pizza & Italian Restaurant by O’Hare near where my parents grew up. In between stuffing our faces, we also managed to fit in a Wendella Lake and River tour, performance of Hamilton, and mini family reunion! The best part of the trip was getting to meet my dear friend’s twin baby boys.
These past few days reminded me why I fell in love with Chicago and chose to live there during my formative college years. I’m already counting down until August when I’ll be back for a blogger conference.
