Spring is just around the corner, and summer won’t be far behind. I’ve slowly started packing my black winter clothes away, making room for crisp whites and light neutrals. While my minimalist Spring/Summer capsule wardrobe is typically pretty basic, I always love using accessories to up the WOW factor…
Enter Cult Gaia’s Ark Bag, which gained a cult-like following last year. I wrote about it back in 2017, but wanted to update this post with some new colorways and styles.
The showstopping bamboo purse was modeled after a Japanese picnic basket, and was probably been flooding your instagram feed last year. It was sold out nearly everywhere, but Cult Gaia has restocked their website for Spring/Summer 2018 (and added some additional variations including pink, white, mint green, and gold.
The bag is priced at $128 for the small version and $138 for the large. Though the price may seem a little steep, the ark bag is incredibly versatile. I also love their new circle bag style called “Luna” (available in a variety of colors).
One thing I’ve struggled with in developing my minimalist fashion style is feeling bored or plain. Without bright colors or patterns, it’s easy to feel like you’re blending in or going unnoticed. Cult Gaia’s must-have handbag stops people in their tracks.

With the Gaia’s Ark bag, though, I felt that it was helping me fulfill my minimalist ambitions. As my husband asked as we were shooting pictures, “But what can you put in that? It’s see-through!”
It’s true… the beauty of the bag is in it’s emptiness. The design inspires me to pare down my purse to the essentials only and not be weighed down by unnecessary clutter. It frequently accompanied me on my travels last year:
