Diversity Chic: Ladies Night

Diversity Chic: Ladies Night | Stephanie Drenka

“Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together.” (Elizabeth Taylor)
In my previous post, I talked about my introvert tendencies. While my Friday nights usually involve pizza and Netflix, if my Diversity Chic blogger besties feel like a night on the town, you can bet I will rally! We were invited to Cadillac’s Style Driven event in Dallas, and decided to make a ladies night AND Diversity Chic shoot out of it. It’s not always easy to get myself pulled together after a long stressful work week, but I do have one not-so-secret weapon– The Perfect Red Lipstick.

Red lipstick might seem bold to some, but, for me, it feels like my natural state. It brings me back to some of my happiest memories in show choir or performing at Six Flags. I even wore (transfer-proof) red lipstick on my wedding day. When Sevi and Valery told us about “The Perfect Red” matte lipstick by NYX and insisted that it looks flattering on every skintone, well… challenge accepted.

I was a little skeptical that a $6 lipstick could deliver on that promise. I’d seen it on both Sevi and Valery, and it looked beautiful on them, but Denise and I both have warmer undertones, and The Perfect Red skews a little blue. But it ended up being a great balance, and looked amazing on each of us! The matte lipstick lasted well through the evening, and after several appetizers (including a messy, but delicious slider) I didn’t need to retouch. Styled with my favorite laced Little Black Dress, the red lip was a perfect classic touch.

To see how the red flattered everyone else’s skintones and outfits, visit my glamorous Diversity Chic gals: Denise, Valery, and Sevi! Special thanks and shout out to our friend Desmond for taking our photos!
