Diversity Chic: Share the Love

“Less is more unless it’s love.” (Ben Mittleman)

Love is in the air, and for this month’s Diversity Chic, we’re excited to share it with all of our readers in the form of a new link-up concept! As we approached our third year of DC, the four of us considered which direction we wanted to go. This series has shade me in ways words cannot describe. It feels like a revolution to celebrate the things about myself I once hid or downplayed. We decided that Diversity Chic is so much more than just the four of us– it’s a movement… a message… something that should be spread as far as it can reach. So we’re asking you to join us each month, and show us how you’re doing you!
I think it’s pretty clear that our theme for February is of the Valentine nature. We put together date night looks to showcase the beautiful jewelry of our gracious sponsor, 7 Charming Sisters. (And made a quick pit stop at Blooms Candy & Soda Pop Shop before the shoot to pick up a couple sweet props). I love, love, love how our outfits came together! We’ve really grown into our own styles over the past few years, and it’s so much fun now when we nail a theme.

Shop My Look: To keep a monochromatic wardrobe from seeming stale, my formula is to incorporate fun silhouettes, bold lipstick, and eye-catching accessories. I’ve been saving this fun ($30!) black flounce dress from H&M for a special occasion. I just adore the romance of ruffles and knew it would be a lovely Valentine’s Day outfit. These slouchy suede boots by Sam Edelman (currently on sale for 50% off!!!!) are so comfortable with a heel height perfect for date night. MAC generously sent me samples from their latest Retro Matte liquid lipstick collection, and the Carnivorous shade added the edge I was aiming for with this look. A stunning statement bracelet c/o 7 Charming Sisters was the final touch.
