Welcome to a very Spring-inspired Diversity Chic post. Spring is my favorite time of the year, and Diversity Chic weeks are my favorite time of each month.
We hope that you’ve been enjoying our monthly Diversity Chic features as much as we love working on them! This month’s trend is Pastels.
I’m not an artist by any stretch of the imagination, but I’ve always loved drawing with pastels. Something about the powdery pigment and how it almost melts onto the paper. And those colors. My wardrobe is typically neutral. I wear a lot of black, white, etc… but when the warmer seasons start, I always like to brighten up my closet with pastel colors. Mint is my personal favorite, and dear to my heart as it was one of our wedding colors. But I stumbled across this sleeveless blouse at TJ Maxx and couldn’t resist. I loved the color, how it looked with my skintone, the perforated design, and layers.
I’m not going to lie… as much as I loved my “pastel” piece, this month’s Diversity Chic shoot was a struggle. We scheduled our photosession on Sunday which was the end of a somewhat gloomy weekend, weather-wise. On top of that, I had been out late the night before celebrating my good friend’s bachelorette party. I am just not about that partying life anymore! My husband was out of town, and I was feeling pretty lonely. I spent all of Sunday in bed recovering. Luckily, I have blogger besties that kept me company via text. We helped each other rally for the shoot with a commitment to our passion project, and the promise of frozen yogurt 😉
Cake batter froyo and time with your besties is one great remedy for a funk. I love the moment of our big reveal each month. Getting to see how everyone else styled the trend and how it all comes together in our group pictures. My favorite fashionistas killed it again! Jordan “Legs for Days” Truly livened up a neutral outfit with a gorgeous statement necklace and coral heels. Valery rocked her newly-dyed purple locks (which I got to photograph the other day) and an AMAZING Jeff Goldbum patterned graphic tshirt. One of the best part about pastels is that they work so well together. Case in point– Sevi’s floral pants had the dreamiest combination of mint, baby pink, lavendar, and coral. The chambray top just tied the whole look together.
