Back in January, I decided that my word of the year would be essential. I made a resolution to pare my life down and focus on what is truly important. I imagined a year of simple living and lots of time/energy for reflection. It all sounded lovely and inspirational at the time. What I forgot to take into consideration was the fact that I was starting a new job, and had no idea what was in store for me. Thankfully, discovering this healthy meal delivery startup, Freshly, has helped me stay both sane and well-fed!
“There is no such thing as work-life balance. Everything worth fighting for unbalances your life.” (Alain de Botton)
I thought I knew “busy” having worked with bloggers and technology. There had even been a period of time when I was working full-time and doing photography shoots nearly every evening and weekend. But none of that prepared me for #nonprofitlife.
We have events nearly every weekend, and since our work is primarily during out-of-school time, evenings are primetime for programming. These days when I’m not working, you’ll typically find me with a stack of books trying to soak in all the knowledge about social/racial justice, the achievement gap in education, and youth development. The kicker? None of it feels like work!
I’ve found my purpose, my mission, my ikigai.
So at this point, you may be wondering – what does all of this have to do with a meal delivery service? Let me introduce you to Freshly… whose mission is to “make you happy, healthy and more free to pursue your passions.”
Freshly accomplishes said mission by giving convenient access to delicious, nourishing meals that are ready within 2 minutes! Their team of chefs saves hours that you might have spent grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning dishes.
Thanks to Freshly, I’m able to not only save time, but also make sure that I’m at my healthiest so I can handle the stress of work/life. Most importantly, it makes meal time more enjoyable. Holden and I can sit down to enjoy a nutritious gourmet dinner without having to worry about who is on kitchen clean-up duty afterward.
Freshly meals are delivered in recyclable containers and kept cool with recycled denim insulation. They only use all-natural ingredients and the meals are shipped fresh (not frozen).
Each meal is perfectly proportioned so you get enough food to feel full, without leaving excess to scrape into the trash. (Food is the largest source of landfill waste in America!)Freshly partners with top chefs and rising culinary talent to craft their recipes and find unique, healthy ingredients.
Thanks to Freshly for reaching out to me and giving me the opportunity to try their amazing service. The food was delicious, so easy to prepare, and made dinner time the highlight of our day.
