Diversity Chic: Fruitful Fashion

Diversity Chic: Fruitful Fashion | Stephanie Drenka

Nothing says “summer” like eating a delicious, fruity sno cone in this unbearable Dallas heat! In choosing the fashion trend for our June Diversity Chic installment, we took a cue from our favorite warm weather pastime and the trend we’ve been spotting all over the blogosphere and Instagram. So excited to present this month’s theme: Fruit! “Juicy Fruit” was the brainchild of Jordan one night when we were gathered together to watch the season finale of Scandal. We immediately started dreaming of our favorite fruits and how we could incorporate it into an outfit.

I’ve always loved strawberries (especially when sprinkled with sugar!), but they hold a special place in my heart because Strawberry Shortcake was one of the brands I managed back in my licensing days. I even dressed up as her for Halloween one year!

Jordan was gracious enough to let me borrow this super cute Strawberry print shirt from SheInside. Since the blouse didn’t quite fit me, I decided to forego the buttons and tie it at the bottom over a bralette. To balance out the cropped look, I styled it with my favorite A-line midi skirt from Express. (It’s currently sold out in red, but they’ve got it available in white– how perfect for summer!)

I put on a coat of my favorite lip stain— Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge in 8 Iconic Red. This is my go-to red lippie, which I even wore on my wedding day! The staying power is perfect for summer (and consuming of sno cones).

It’s usually a struggle each month to come up with the perfect location or backdrop for our Diversity Chic photoshoots. This month was a no-brainer. We knew we wanted to shoot (eat) at a sno cone place. We picked Lyn’s Tasty Sno in Carrollton which has been Sevi’s go-to shaved ice stand since childhood. The sno cones were absolutely delicious. I got the Strawberry Margarita flavor (of course). As you can see in this photo, Jordan was the only one with the willpower to keep from eating so much of it that it wouldn’t be visible in the picture. LOL!

Don’t forget to visit my fellow Diversity Chic #bloggerbesties for details on Jordan’s lovely lemon dress, Valery’s adorable grapefruit purse and watermelon socks, or Sevi’s gold pineapple print top!

We hope you enjoyed reading this month’s Diversity Chic feature as we did putting it together! We’re currently brainstorming ideas for next month– what trend would you like to see us tackle in July? Let me know in the comments!!
