Weekend Escape: Hilton San Antonio Hill Country

San Antonio is one of my very favorite places in Texas. We go fairly often because it’s such an easy drive from Dallas and we have friends and family to visit there. Usually we stay with my in-laws, but I was excited when Hilton San Antonio Hill Country invited us to experience their newly-renovated property. It is located conveniently near Sea World- not far from Six Flags Over Texas, and the Riverwalk. The hotel’s multimillion-dollar enhancements, completed in March 2018, give it a true resort-feel. The ranch-style decor blends seamlessly into the Hill Country backdrop. We were afraid the rain would intrude on our getaway, but it actually cleared up for the weekend. We were able to enjoy the lush greenery and outdoor spaces. It was a much-needed change of scenery from the dreary, overcast Dallas weather we’d been experiencing.

The Room:
Our king bedroom suite was warm and inviting. All of the property’s newly refreshed guest rooms include luxury bedding, marble bathrooms, and new 49-inch HDTVs. I loved having a separate sitting area and workspace to edit photos from during our stay. The suite had a cute balcony, although our view was of the parking lot, so we spent more time relaxing inside.

The Patio and Pool:
Hilton San Antonio Hill Country’s outdoor patio was my favorite part of the hotel! As part of their weekly programming, you can reserve a spot by one of the fire pits to make s’mores. They also have outdoor games like pool volleyball, cornhole, and giant chess/checkers/jenga. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t quite warm enough to swim in one of their three newly updated outdoor pools. I’d love to visit again during the summertime to enjoy a cocktail poolside.

The Spur Texas Kitchen & Bar:
The hotel’s new restaurant offers lunch, dinner, and cocktails developed by award-winning Chef Chris Lambert. The Spur’s menu items are inspired by American and Texas cuisine and include a full service bar along with a variety of appetizer and entree choices. Each of their craft cocktails is inspired and named after iconic Texas symbols. The food on their menu is locally sourced and focused, with a contemporary Texas theme. I ordered their chips and guacamole and the Diablo Sliders (Wagyu beef, shishito peppers, and pepper cheese).

Thank you to Hilton San Antonio Hill Country for extending your southern hospitality and giving us the chance to unwind in such lovely surroundings!
