What’s In My Purse: Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis

I’ve been developing and editing my minimalist capsule wardrobe for a few years now, and feel as though I’ve finally found a simplified stride. With a closet of classic clothing items that can easily mix-and-match together, it seemed like the right time to begin investing in similarly timeless handbags.

After several months with the Louis Vuitton Neverfull GM, I became a loyalist to the brand. The quality, sturdiness, and versatility make their products true investment pieces. On the other hand, the hefty price tags and wide array of styles make it challenging to commit.

Following some careful deliberation (aka lots of YouTube video watching and review reading), I purchased a pre-loved Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis from Poshmark. The envelope, briefcase-like shape won me over instantly. Also, the monogram canvas is so sturdy and versatile. My only concern was the bag’s size and whether or not it would be practical for an everyday handbag. To my pleasant surprise, it was!

The Pochette Metis fits my essentials comfortably: 6 Key Holder, Victorine Wallet, and “Wander Woman” Pouch from FEED, which was a gift from my friend Brooke that holds cosmetics and/or camera batteries. Depending on what I need for the day, I’ll also fit a Medium-Sized Agenda or Fuji X100T camera inside. It has an exterior zip pocket on the back, which perfectly houses my iPhone for quick access.

Crossbody styles are always my favorite, because they keep my hands-free to take pictures or work on my phone. I thought this one would be especially convenient for travel. The monogram canvas strap is low-maintenance, since you don’t have to worry about ruining the vachetta leather like other bags. It’s a very all-occasion type of purse that can be dressed up or down.

To be transparent, I hesitated to write this post because sometimes it feels strange, even shameful, to showcase luxury items on here. I never want to imply that a designer handbag is a must-have item or some sort of essential addition to any woman’s wardrobe. It’s a splurge and not everyone’s style or taste. But knowing what a significant decision it is to spend this much money on a purse, I’m hoping it might help someone else to see some of the things I considered before making the leap.
