My Grandpa Paul, an avid Home Shopping Network watcher, gave me my first digital camera when I was a freshman in high school. He was truly a man before his time, and I wish he could have lived to see all the amazing technological innovations of the last decade. Since his first HSN gift, I’ve owned more than 20 different digital cameras. Canon, Nikon, Casio, Fujifilm, Samsung, and Sony– I was always on the hunt for the latest and greatest.
People often ask about what gear I use for my photography. After years of research, experimentation, and trial/error, I’ve come to realize that equipment is only a small part of what makes a photo great. Nevertheless, I have found my favorites over time (#TeamCanon), and do believe that if photography is something that brings you joy and you want to pursue it as a serious hobby or career, quality gear is worth the investment.
