Ready for Fall (and NYFW!)

Behind the Lens: Work/Life Balance | Stephanie Drenka

Last week, we got a day of reprieve from the scorching Dallas heat. The short-lived cold front had me dreaming of fall weather. In less than a month, I’ll be in New York with Holden and a few of my favorite Dallas bloggers for Fashion Week, but it’s been difficult to plan my outfits for the trip when all I can think about is the unbearably hot summer climate here.

Holden and I went to the Galleria on Saturday afternoon to stock up on some shirts for him. We conveniently had to pass Forever 21 on our way back to the car, and I couldn’t resist sneaking in for a peek. I walked out with the cutest pair of Oxfords that I knew would be perfect for exploring NYC.

This summer, I’ve purchase mostly midi and maxi dresses because they work better for me while I’m shooting. I can squat down to take detail pictures of shoes, etc… without worrying about flashing any passersby. The longer lengths will hopefully transition nicely into the next season. My strategy for fall and the trip to New York is to layer my summer wardrobe with a few staple items, like this denim jacket (that was graciously lent to me by Valery, who also snapped these pictures).

My messenger style camera bag from Ona, serendipitously named Brooklyn, will carry all the gear I need to capture the street style of NYFW.
