The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Halloween

Being a person is getting too complicated. Time to be a unicorn.

Halloween is creeping around the corner, and I’m too lazy (read: cheap) to buy a full costume for it. Adult Halloween is not my thing. Let’s be honest– the holiday just doesn’t have the same appeal when free candy isn’t involved. Back in college, I used to agonize over finding the perfect “sexy _______” costume for the clubs. Maybe if I still had my 21-year-old figure, I’d be more enthusiastic about the idea of it all. Nowadays, my husband and I stay home and watch scary movies, answering the door for the few trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood. The introvert in me has taken over completely, and I’m okay with that.

If you’re like me and adulting leaves you lethargic by October 31st, here is my formula for an easy, stress-free, and work-appropriate costume:

1) Themed Hair Accessory (ie cat ears, witch hat, or unicorn headband)
2) Color-coordinated Makeup (I used Urban Decay‘s Vice 2 eyeshadow palette and layered on some pink and purple unicorn-like colors)
3) Festive Top (like a unicorn or pumpkin sweatshirt)

Voilà! Open up an assorted bag of candy, play your favorite horror flick on Netflix, and enjoy a lazy Halloween!
