The Bare Minimum: Summer Makeup Essentials

I woke up like this… (almost). Summertime for my job means spending a significant portion of my days outdoors for various events. I have to balance the inclination to look presentable, but also bear the Texas heat and keep up with the kids we serve.
These must-have summer makeup essentials help keep my morning routine short and sweet, but with enough staying power to last through the entire day! I start with this Coola BB Cream (which I fortuitously discovered in this month’s Birchbox). With all the time I spend in the sun, I needed something lightweight and with SPF. I love the consistency of this cream and the subtle glow it adds to my skin.
My favorite makeup discovery of the season is LipSense. I’m sure you’ve heard of it, or at least been added to several Facebook groups from several friends distributing it. I avoided trying it, honestly because I’m a design snob and hate the packaging. But as I found myself wasting time at work re-applying lipstick, or opting out of wearing any at all because of the issues I’d have with feathering or bleeding, it seemed like the right time to take the plunge.
After a week, I was so convinced of its magical properties that I bit the bullet and signed up as a distributor! (Mostly because I’m lazy and wanted the ability to order more products whenever I wanted…) My go-to color is called Apple Cider. It’s a beautiful neutral color with a hint of pink– the ultimate “My Lips But Better” (MLBB) shade. One application before work lasts me until bedtime. I ordered a few extra tubes, if you’re interested in purchasing! Click here for more info or to place an order. For eyes, I skip the shadow (I still have yet to master the creaseless, single eyelid look) and use a little Anastasia DipBrow pomade for my eyebrows.

My Holy Grail liquid eyeliner is from Blinc. I’ve used this product since college and it never fails me. “Blinc Liquid Eyeliner is the first and only liquid eyeliner that forms a water-resistant layer of color that binds to the lash line to provide a dramatic look and unparalleled hold.” I love a good cat-eye, but I also have terrible allergies that leave me inadvertently rubbing my eyes throughout the day. Traditional eyeliners also seem to melt away or smudge, but Blinc stays in place until I wash my face at night. Seriously, magic.

The final touch is a dash of Philosophy “Fresh Cream” perfume, which makes me smell like a cupcake. I have a full-size bottle and this convenient rollerball for travel/carrying with me.

I love playing with makeup as much as the next girl, but keeping my beauty routine to the basics leaves me more valuable time in the morning (like to write this post)! What are some of your Holy Grail cosmetic products?
