This year’s Winter Capsule Wardrobe post is long overdue. The weather in Dallas has been so random and not wintery, that it was hard to narrow down pieces. Inspired by the new year (decade!), my friends and I have decided to try a low-spend lifestyle. As a recovering fashion blogger, despite efforts towards minimalism, my clothes-hoarding was shameful. I’m pretty good about pulling pieces for capsules and sticking to them, but everything else wastes away in the back of the closet. So yesterday I piled everything on our dining room table and went through it one by one, Marie Kondo style, until the remains fit on one clothing rack.
So here it is. The contents of my “closet” — excluding undergarments, pajamas, workout wear, and jackets/coats. For the rest of this season/quarter, I won’t be buying any new clothes. I’m going to try and make this a lifestyle change, and not so much a one-time challenge. But another goal of mine is to eat better and exercise regularly, so I might need to update some items based on sizing come Spring.
Having everything in front of me made it easier to “shop” and pick out what I wanted to include in my Winter Capsule Wardrobe. Here are the pieces that made the cut. I didn’t include coats/jackets or workout gear, because those are more situational. And in Texas, I’m not sure how often I’ll actually need warmer outerwear. It feels so good to start fresh and unburdened. Looking forward to seeing how much I time/energy/money I can save with a low-spend lifestyle. Stay tuned for an upcoming post with resources and inspiration, if you’re interested in joining this movement.

How did you deal with items that have sentimental value, OR ” I might need this some day” ?
