Create for a Cause: Mon Amie Watches & GAIA

Has anyone ever asked you what you want to do in life? Not what you want to be when you grow up, but what you want to do? My CEO asked me this yesterday, and I kept hearing the chorus from a song by Lady Antebellum playing in my head:

I wanna do something that matters
Say something different
Something that sets the whole world on it’s ear
I wanna do somethin’ better, with the time I’ve been given
And I wanna try to touch a few hearts in this life
And leave nothin’ less that something that says ‘I was here

This song has been my anthem since the first time I heard it as a high schooler at a “Country Thunder” concert in Wisconsin. No matter what job or career I have at the moment, I try to ask myself– what am I doing that will leave the world a better place than I found it? As an influencer and digital content creator, I’ve realized that this is a question I should also be asking of the brands who want to work with me.

In an intentional effort to be a more ethical and conscious publisher, you’ve probably noticed a shift in my content this past year. I don’t typically attend “blogger” events or feature as many sponsored products. But there is one company I never pass up an opportunity to highlight… Mon Amie Watches.

Through a special partnership with WE Charity, each Mon Amie purchase supports one of five causes:
Food: These watch purchases help bring healthy food to the areas that need it most.
Education: Purchasing this watch helps provide school supplies and education to students in need.
Opportunity: Purchases give toward financial tools and opportunity.
Health: With your purchase, you’ll also be making an impact by providing prenatal care for one woman.
Water: Each watch sale improves access to clean water for communities around the world.

You can choose which issue is nearest and dearest to your heart and purchase the corresponding watch design(s).

Empowered women empower women.
The common thread tying all of Mon Amie’s five causes together is women’s empowerment. They are taking their commitment a step further by partnering with like-minded brands in their community to create even more opportunities for women. Mon Amie means “my friend” in French. Their hope is to “build friendships with fellow do-gooders so [they] can do something big,” both globally and in our local communities.

Mon Amie understands the power of collaboration and recently partnered with Dallas brand, GAIA Empowered Women, to celebrate creativity and sisterhood.

GAIA is a local boutique selling products handmade by refugee women resettled in Dallas using vintage, artisan-made, & sustainable materials. Their mission is “to empower refugee women through employment, encouragement, and dedication to their long-term success in our local communities.”
On June 20th, World Refugee Day, Mon Amie teamed up with GAIA to host an event celebrating creativity and collaboration. Hosted at GAIA’s uptown boutique, their skilled artisans led a tassel-making workshop for guests and Mon Amie setup a pop-up of the latest summer watch styles.

I had the exciting privilege of taking over the official Mon Amie instagram account to share behind-the-scenes highlights throughout the evening.

I loved being able to tour the beautiful space (hello, natural light!), meet GAIA artisans Bothina and Huda, and hear the story of GAIA from founder Paula Minnis.

Perhaps my favorite part of the event was getting to spend it alongside Dallas influencers who share Mon Amie’s vision of the empowered woman. I know firsthand what a difference supportive women can make in a person’s life. Imagine the world of opportunity if we could all treat each other with the kindness of a friend.

“Create for a Cause” was a restorative dose of community and kindness that my heart sorely needed. Sometimes being in this work every day can be difficult. I’m grateful to brands like GAIA and Mon Amie for shining a light for on such important issues, and doing it in style!
