Ski Dubai – Indoor Ski Resort

Ski Dubai - Indoor Ski Resort | Stephanie Drenka

From the desert to the slopes, we spent our last morning in Dubai skiing! Ski Dubai is located in Mall of the Emirates and was the first indoor ski resort to open in the Middle East. It contains five runs (varying in difficulty from bunny slopes to a black run, and freestyle area for snowboarders) with 22,500 square meters of snow.

Ski Dubai opened in November of 2005 with a 278 feet high mountain (and the first indoor black diamond ski run). For non-skiiers/snowboarders, there is a Snow Park with snow caves, toboggan slopes and tube rides. You can even hang out with penguins!

Winter clothing, snowboard and ski equipment are all included in the admission price- just remember to bring gloves and a hat (optional).

I’m not an avid skier by any means– I’ve snowboarded a few times, but hadn’t been on a pair of skis since a trip to Whistler when I was 10. I should have snowboarded, but decided that since we were at “Ski” Dubai, I should ski… oops. Not like riding a bike, did not remember anything. After a few runs, I decided to hang out by the Snow Park and just take pictures of everyone else. Regardless, it was an incredible experience just to be skiing inside a mall!! I mean, really. Dubai, could you be any cooler? (Pun intended)
