Summer Trend: The Floral Kimono

The literal translation of kimono is “thing to wear” (ki=wear, mono=thing). This season, the kimono has truly become the thing to wear. I fell in love with this floral & fringe kimono from Forever 21. Not only is it made from lightweight material that wouldn’t be too hot to wear in the Texas heat, but I liked that it has both Asian and Western influences.

It isn’t trying to be something out of Memoirs of a Geisha or a costume piece. It’s just wonderfully bohemian, feminine, and versatile. It could easily be worn over a dress, jumpsuit– you name it. Since it’s the weekend, and I like being comfy on Sundays– I paired it with my favorite boyfriend jean shorts and a neutral colored tank top.
