What I Packed vs. What I Wore: Korea

Tuesday, October 22, 2019 · In: Fashion, Travel

I think it’s safe to say now that I overpacked for Korea. We never check luggage (especially when traveling standby), but because some of the gifts I was bringing were liquids, we didn’t have a choice. I should have packed my clothes and shoes as if we were only traveling with a carry-on, but I got a little carried away.

I accidentally left my entire airport outfit at my in-law’s house, where we stayed the night before our flight. Changed into this maxi dress for comfort at the last minute, but forgot to pack the camisole, black pants, and cardigan I had originally laid out for the trip. Panicked for a bit thinking my options were much more limited than I thought they would be.

But, in the end, I really only wore these pieces for the entire 10 days – mixing and matching them based on the weather and itinerary.

Women’s Topshop Rouleau Swing Camisole
MAKEMECHIC Women’s Casual Loose Pocket Long Dress Short Sleeve Split Maxi Dress
Topshop Patch Cable Crewneck Sweater
Topshop Paperbag Utility Shorts
Halogen® Pleated Midi Skirt
Roxy Young Again Plaid Flannel Shirt
Leith Everyday Bodysuit
levi’s Wedgie Icon Fit High Waist Crop Jeans

For a self-proclaimed minimalist and capsule wardrobe enthusiast, I didn’t take my own advice. International travel always psychs me out a little. Definitely forgot about all the space I would need for souvenirs and gifts from my family on the way back. Lesson learned, and will definitely be packing much lighter moving forward.
