A Trip to Farmers Branch Market

Saturday, June 17, 2017

Holden and I knew very little about Farmers Branch when we bought our house here four years ago. I’ve loved exploring our small town and finding hidden gems like my favorite park. I found out through Facebook that there was a weekly Farmers Market less than two miles away from our house, and I’ve been wanting to go. I am so glad that we finally had the chance to visit the market today, and think it will be a new weekend ritual.

This morning, we woke up early to beat the heat and crowds. Our first stop was Round Rock Honey’s booth for a huge bottle of wildflower honey. Then we stocked up on delicious jellies from Designs by Diana (including my new favorite, Zesty Strawberry Jalapeño). The Egg Stand was parked at the market, so Holden and I ordered breakfast from them and enjoyed listening to live music while we ate. The whole experience was very Gilmore Girl-esque, and I’m now obsessed.

Visit the Farmers Branch Market Saturdays Weekly from 9:00am – 1:00pm.
The Grove @ Mustang Crossing
12700 Denton Drive
Farmers Branch, TX 75234

UPDATE: This year the market has changed to evening hours – 5:00-8:00 pm. It is still in the same location and has many of the same vendors and amenities and more. Children’s activities too.

Instagram post 2154050873827668211_218735928 i blinked, and our trip was over. almost like a dream. ended the week unexpectedly alone at a hotel (#standbytravel) and had a strong sense of déjà vu this morning. i'm remembering what it was like to be alone in a hotel room 11 years ago after returning from a visit to the adoption agency and learning i had two older sisters. i was filled with emotions and lost in thought with no one to talk to. getting ready for today's flight home, my heart somehow feels both full and broken. i couldn't stop crying after i said goodbye to my sister at the airport yesterday. every time i leave my birth family, it's with more questions than i started. so many things i wish i knew how to say in a language that would have been mine, but is foreign to me now. even though my dream came true when i found them, there are no real happy endings in adoption stories. but there is a chance to write a new chapter. #stephaniewashere #nanowrimo2019 #amwriting #writersofig
