“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” (Theodore Roosevelt)
While my blog has gone relatively quiet these past few months, offline life has been a bit of a rollercoaster. The new year and another January Whole30 couldn’t have come at a more opportune time. Having some semblance of consistency (even if it was only during mealtime) was a blessing. After a successful 30 day reset, it was time to do the same for the other aspects of my life.
Our house was slowly starting to morph into a manifestation of my internal chaos. I let things pile up, which only exacerbated my anxiety. Both my mind and physical space needed some serious de-cluttering.
Adulthood is when your husband asks what you want to do for your 32nd birthday, and the answer is “go to The Container Store” to buy home organization supplies… Even though the whole house is overdue for some serious re-organization, I decided to start small in the areas where it would have the most impact.
Mornings have become my time for mindfulness. During this year’s Whole30, I started drinking coffee regularly for the first time. My new favorite treat is mixing Nutpods and Collagen Peptides in a cup of it and enjoying an hour or so of quiet time before getting ready for work. I decided to turn this shelving area in our kitchen dining space into a coffee bar.
After pouring a cup of coffee, I move into the guest room (aka my closet/office) to get ready for work. My capsule wardrobe helps make picking out what to wear an easier task. I spent some time this week paring down the clothing rack to my everyday favorites.
