I’ve dreamed of having a window-facing desk ever since seeing Carrie Bradshaw’s home office situation in the first “Sex and the City” season. Light. Changing seasons. Constant inspiration through the glass. What more could a writer wish for in a workspace?
Downsizing from a three-bedroom house to the open floor-plan of a loft forced me to be a little more creative while arranging furniture. I decided to set up shop in our bedroom and began searching for the right desk.
I was looking for something that would complement both our mid-century modern furniture and the industrial style of the space. I wanted it to be relatively low-key and not distract from the loft itself.
Home furnishing company Holly & Martin specializes in functional and stylish pieces for smaller spaces. I fell instantly in love with their “Haxor Writing Desk” for its modern twist on classic art deco and mid-century style.
The desk’s clean lines and sleek glass tabletop speak to my minimalist heart. It adds just the right amount of flair to the room, without being overbearing.
As for styling, I kept the decor simple with a few writing tools, low-maintenance succulent, candle, and a row of my favorite books for encouragement during the occasional bout of writer’s block.
Thank you to Holly & Martin for this beautiful gift. I look forward to many early mornings and late nights sitting at my desk waiting for inspiration to strike!
