Jane Austen Tea Party Bridal Shower

“There is no charm equal to tenderness of heart.” (Jane Austen)
My maid of honor Nichole (who also happens to be my future sister), threw me the most amazing bridal shower. The theme we chose was “Jane Austen Tea Party” — in honor of our favorite author, which was one of the first things we bonded over when we met.
She found Jane Austen bridal shower invitations on Etsy. (And I was impressed that there were other bookworm brides out there who had been similarly inspired!)
When I walked into Nichole’s house for the shower yesterday, I felt like I was entering an 18th Century England dreamland. All her ideas and details were executed perfectly– between the china borrowed from each side of our families to the bookmarks with classic Jane Austen quotes for favors.
My future mother-in-law ordered the beautiful cake from Elegant Cakery and Nichole’s fiancé made the most delicious tea sandwiches.
I’m so lucky to not only have found my Mr. Darcy, but also a sister who can appreciate the fact that I refer to him as my Mr. Darcy.
What a lovely party! That might be the most beautiful cake I’ve ever seen…and the sandwiches and the china and all the little touches…just great!
It’s a nice bonus when you click with the new family. My wife and I were together almost 8 years (5 dating/3 married) before two of my sisters would talk to her. She really misses those days. 😀
Thank you, Rick!! My future-in-laws are so wonderful (as you can tell by the amazing shower they helped throw for me). I’m lucky to be gaining so many sweet new family members.
Where did you get the tea cups!? I love them!
