Our first Dubai adventure was a seaplane tour from Seawings. Seawings provides unique air sightseeing excursion and private charter to destinations such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Sir Bani Yas.
Carefully crafted to include all Dubai’s iconic attractions, the 40-minute long Dubai Silver Air Tour departed from Dubai Creek (right next door to our hotel, the Park Hyatt Dubai). Dubai Creek is part of the historic “Old Dubai” so it’s kind of the perfect place to start the tour. My parents had done this aerial excursion on one of their previous trips and loved it. You get bird’s-eye views of the city on the amphibious Cessna 208 Caravan aircraft, which takes off from the water.
I was a little nervous stepping onto the seaplane, but it was a really smooth ride! Each seat had a large window to enjoy the breathtaking views, and I was able to get plenty of pictures. It was so surreal to see famous landmarks like the Burj Al Arab and the world’s tallest building—the Burj Khalifa from this vantage point.
Other highlights from the seaplane tour included seeing “The World Islands,” Atlantis, The Palm & Jumeira Beach. (Click here to watch a short video clip from our plane ride over The Palm) I’m really glad that my parents planned this for our first activity in Dubai, because it gave us a great overview of the city and added context to what we had to look forward to the rest of this week.
For this excursion, I think the pictures speak for themselves, so I’ll let them do that…
