Bordeaux, France was recently named Lonely Planet’s Best City in the World for travelers. After experiencing a few days in the city as part of Viking’s Chateaux, Rivers & Wine Cruise, I can personally attest to the validity of this claim.
I fell instantly in love with its 18th century limestone buildings and stunning historic landmarks as we drove from the airport to our ship. Viking took us on a walking tour of Bordeaux on the first night. It was raining, and I felt exhausted from our long day of travel. My energy was renewed as we passed breathtaking buildings including Eglise Saint-Louis des Chartrons and Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux.
Of all the beautiful sights, none were more spectacular than the stunning Place de la Bourse with its reflection from the rainy sidewalk. It was magical to behold, and the perfect start to our journey.

Thanks, Sevi!! We were lucky- there was only one day of really heavy rainfall. The rest of the time it was just a sprinkle that ended up making the pictures even more interesting. Was glad that my camera is weatherproof!
